Copy trading on mSamex — for leaders and for traders
Become a leader, follow one, and set every protection before you start. How stats are calculated, what each copy setting does, and cautious starting values.
What copy trading is on mSamex
Copy trading lets a trader (a leader) publish a portfolio and lets other users (copiers) mirror its futures trades in their own account, scaled to the copier's own money. On the trade screens it sits next to Spot and Futures as the Copy trade tab, on web and in the app.
For leaders
What you need
- Identity verification at the level shown in the app.
- A minimum amount of your own funds in your futures Main account (currently 500 USDT; bonus does not count).
- An account that has not been blocked from leading.
There is no review queue: when the requirements are met, your portfolio goes live at once. The screen "What you need to lead" shows exactly what is missing.
How to become a leader
- Create a portfolioName it, choose your markets and set your profit share, minimum copy and number of copier slots. The profit share cannot change once the portfolio is live. The allowed ranges are shown on the create screen.
- Trade its own accountThe portfolio gets a portfolio account. Fund it from Main and trade it on the Futures screen.
- Copiers followEach copier's copy account mirrors your trades, sized from their own money. Portfolios can be public (listed on Discover) or private (reached with an invite code).
- Earn your shareYour profit share is taken only from a copier's profit above their high-water mark, when their copy is settled. Every payment is listed under Earnings.
Leaders cannot live-copy another portfolio. Copiers can stop at any time; there is no lock-up. mSamex may pause or block a portfolio if its trading looks manipulative.
How your stats are calculated
Stats are recalculated about every five minutes and shown for 30 days and all time.
- PnL = realized profit and loss minus trading fees, plus or minus the funding or swap your portfolio account paid or received.
- ROI = PnL divided by the starting base (equity minus PnL minus unrealized PnL). It is based on realized results, so an open position does not flip its sign.
- Max drawdown and the equity curve are marked to market, so open risk stays visible.
- Positions are closed round trips, rebuilt from the fills: open, add, reduce, close. A flip counts as one closed position and one new one.
- Win rate = the share of closed positions whose own net result (realized minus that position's fees, plus or minus its funding) is above zero.
For traders who copy
- Start small and tightBegin with a small amount you can afford to lose, a tight drawdown limit (the screen allows 5% to 95%; a cautious value is 10% to 20%) and a low leverage cap (3x to 5x).
- Pick a portfolioOpen Discover and read the portfolio page: 30-day PnL and ROI, max drawdown, win rate, profit share and minimum copy. Past results describe the past only.
- Start a live copyChoose the amount, set your drawdown limit, review More settings, accept the risk notice and start. You can run one live copy at a time. The minimum amount is the portfolio's minimum copy; the exchange floor is 50 USDT and the ceiling 200,000 USDT.
- Pause, adjust or stopChanges apply to new positions; open copied positions keep their leverage and margin mode. The amount and drawdown limit are fixed while copying: stop and start a new copy to change them. When you stop, every copied position closes at market, the lead is paid their share of any profit above your high-water mark, and the rest returns to your futures Main account.
Safety guide: every copy setting
These are the settings on the Start copying sheet. Leave a field empty for "none" where the screen says so.
| Setting | What it does | Cautious starting point |
|---|---|---|
| Amount | The money you allocate to the copy. Taken from your own futures Main funds (bonus cannot be used). Fixed while you copy. | Only what you can afford to lose. Start near the portfolio minimum, then add a second copy later if you are comfortable. |
| Drawdown limit (required) | When your copy loses this share of its amount, the copied positions are closed and the copy is paused. Allowed range is shown on the screen (5% to 95% by default). | 10% to 20%. Never the maximum. In a fast market the loss can pass the limit before positions close. |
| How each copied trade is sized | Equity to equity (recommended) · Balance ratio · Fixed ratio · Fixed amount (the margin you set per trade, times your leverage). | Keep Equity to equity. Use Fixed amount only if you want every trade to risk the same margin. |
| Leverage | Follow the lead up to my cap, or Fixed at my cap. You always get the lower of your cap and the lead's actual leverage. Empty = the exchange's default cap. | A cap of 3x to 5x. A low cap means smaller copies, which is the point. |
| Margin mode | Isolated or Cross. Your mode always wins over the lead's. | Isolated: each copied position can lose only its own margin. |
| Take profit / stop loss per position (ROI) | Optional ROI percentages applied to each copied position. | A stop loss you would accept on any single trade, for example 10% to 25% ROI. Leave take profit empty unless you have a plan. |
| Stop the whole copy at a loss of | Optional, in USDT or percent. Closes the copy when its loss reaches this. | Optional safety net set below your drawdown limit. |
| Daily loss limit | In USDT. When reached, new copies pause for the rest of the day. Closes still copy. | About 2% to 5% of your amount. |
| Pause when the lead's drawdown reaches | Percent. Pauses the copy when the lead's own drawdown passes this. | Slightly above the lead's 30-day max drawdown on the portfolio page, so a normal swing does not trigger it but an unusual one does. |
| Largest position I copy | Caps the size of any one copied position. Empty = no cap. | No more than about a quarter of your amount. |
| Max slippage | A trade is skipped when the price moved past this. Empty = the exchange default (0.5% for major markets, 1.5% for others). | Keep the default. |
| The lead's positions already open | Do not copy them · Only at a better price · Copy them all now. | Do not copy them (start clean). Entering at today's price can be worse than the lead's entry. |
Habits that protect you
- Do not trade manually in a market your copy covers; the exchange refuses to start a copy when you already hold a manual position there.
- Read the portfolio's drawdown before its profit.
- Do not put all your trading money into one lead.
- Watch the pause notices: a copy can pause because of your drawdown limit, your daily loss limit, the lead's drawdown, or an exchange action.
- Never copy because someone promises returns. Anyone who guarantees profit is not describing a real product.
Fees and costs
Copied trades pay normal futures trading fees and funding or swap inside your copy account (see the fees page). The lead is paid the profit share set on their portfolio, only on profit above your high-water mark.
Risk disclosure
Copy trading involves leveraged derivatives and substantial risk of loss. In a fast market the loss can pass your drawdown limit before positions are closed. Slippage, fees, position-size limits and your own leverage cap mean your results will differ from the lead's. The leader's results can change at any time. See the Risk disclosure and Terms of Service. The service is not offered to US persons.
Questions people ask
Is copy trading available on mSamex?
Yes. It is open to all users as the Copy trade tab next to Spot and Futures, on web and in the app.
What do I need to become a leader?
Identity verification at the required level, the minimum own funds in your futures Main account (currently 500 USDT), and an account that is not blocked. There is no review queue.
How are a leader's PnL, ROI and win rate calculated?
PnL is realized profit minus trading fees, plus or minus funding or swap. ROI is PnL divided by the starting base and uses realized results. Positions are closed round trips and the win rate is the share of those whose net result is above zero.
Which setting protects me most?
The drawdown limit, which is required: when your copy loses that share of its amount the copied positions are closed and the copy pauses. In a fast market the loss can pass the limit.
Can I lose all the money I copy with?
Yes. Copying opens leveraged futures positions with your own money and you can lose part or all of the amount you copy with.
